Saturday, June 12, at 0900 hours, “Operation Cookie Drop” commenced, and it was a huge success.  Alison Bergman, the Girl Scout leader from Ardsley who coordinated the event, reported that nearly 50,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies were donated from the five counties making up Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, the local Girl Scout Council to which the Chappaqua Girl Scouts belong.

More than 2700 of these boxes were donated through the efforts of local Chappaqua Girl Scouts and the support of their friends, families, and neighbors in Chappaqua.  The purchase of these cookies not only benefits the many soldiers bravely serving the country overseas, but the proceeds will also support the many community efforts of Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson as well as activities of the local Chappaqua troops.

Many Chappaqua Girl Scouts volunteered at the event, helping to receive and sort the donated boxes.  The Girl Scouts used this opportunity to write personal notes of thanks, which were packed along with the boxes to be received by U.S. military troops serving overseas or recuperating in hospitals here in the U.S.

The Chappaqua Girl Scouts appreciate this opportunity to thank all of our friends and neighbors in Chappaqua who participated in the cookie sale and the Gift of Caring program that contributed to “Operation Cookie Drop.”
