Brook Farm Project is a Community Supported Agriculture, also known as CSA, farm located on Mohonk Mountain House property in New Paltz, N.Y. Never heard of a CSA? It is a great way to get the most fresh and delicious vegetables directly from the farm. The CSA model provides food to members from the community who join the farm as shareholders. Members pay a fee at the beginning of the season, which provides the farm with capital when it is most needed, and in exchange they receive a weekly distribution of seasonal vegetables.
Brook Farm Project is anticipating expanding its distribution area to include Westchester County. Farm membership is available on a month-by-month basis for the months of July, August, September and October. Vegetables will be delivered to a central location in Chappaqua, where members will come to pick up their share of the harvest. Distribution will occur once a week for a fee of $150 per month. Members can sign up for one month, all four months, or any combination of one, two or three months. Members can expect to receive from 6 to 8 different vegetables and herbs, enough to feed a family of four for a week.
Brook Farm offers monthly potlucks for our members. One Sunday evening each month we gather under the pavilion to break bread together and enjoy some great food made with produce from your farm share. It’s a great way to meet other members and talk about local food. Potlucks are scheduled from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on June 14, July 12, August 16, September 20 and October 18.
CSAs members benefit from eating delicious vegetables grown in a sustainable manner that are free of chemicals and picked at the height of freshness. We can guarantee that you’ve never tasted food this good. The produce simply speaks for itself and the flavors shine through. New members often comment on how long the vegetables stay fresh in their refrigerator. This is the result of food that is picked when ripe and does not sit in transit for days before it reaches the grocery store. There is nothing like eating farm-fresh.
Free-range chicken and grass-fed beef, both raised on the farm, can be pre-ordered as well. The taste of the meats is just as exceptional as the vegetables, and they require only simple preparation. Eggs are available from our happy healthy hens in very limited quantities.
Eating locally-grown food is better for your health, the environment and the community.
