On Sunday night, June 6, around 9:15 p.m., Dr. Kevin A. Burbige of Chappaqua was in a fatal one-car crash going west on I-84 in Connecticut, between exits 4 and 5. According to Connecticut State Police, Dr. Burbige appears to have driven off the road in his Volvo and struck a concrete bridge support. The car immediately burst into flames; he died at the site of the crash. The accident is under investigation; it is unclear at this time what caused him to drive off the highway.
Dr. Burbige was a urologist and pediatric urologist who has been affiliated with Stamford Hospital since 1995. In 2008, he was identified as a top doctor in his field in New York Magazine’s annual survey, as well as one of the best doctors in Westchester County. He leaves his wife Chris and three sons, Kevin, Matt and Brian.
Calling hours for Dr. Kevin A. Burbige are scheduled for today, June 11, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home, 1300 Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor. The funeral is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 12 at St. Theresa’s Church, 1394 Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Kisco.
I just saw him a few days ago, it’s too bad.
Our hearts go out to Dr. Burbige’s family. He was an amazing Doctor & person!
Dr. Burbige was an excellent doctor. I trusted him so much and had him see my little three year old daugher Madison. He would see her
at Valley Hospital and what a compassionate doctor who cared so much about his patients. I never had any worries after having her see Dr.
Burbige and felt he was a man with a great heart and just so kind.
He would give us so much time when we were there and gave it 100% of his attention. I was so sad to hear about his loss and my prayers go out to your three boys and his wife and family. Please know we have never met a better doctor or friend.
Sincerely,
Politi Family
