Please donate blood! People can’t live without it.

Girl scouts from Troop 1023 are working with the New York Blood Center to organize a blood drive that will take place next Saturday, March 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the New Castle Town Hall. If you are interested in donating, please contact Lori Townsend, our Troop Leader, at (914) 238-6457 to schedule an appointment.  Walk-ins are also welcome!

You must be at least 16 years or older to donate. If you are 16, you must bring a permission form signed by your parents that you can obtain by clicking on this link: http://live.nybloodcenter.org/files/Media/27/mediumFilename/16yr-donate-ny.pdf. Please make sure to bring photo identification to all blood drives. Remember, blood donors save lives!

Don’t feel bad if you can’t come to this blood drive! If you can’t make this blood drive, other local drives are coming soon including the following:

      o April 24 - Rotary Pancake Breakfast, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
      o May 8 - Temple Beth El

Please visit www.nybloodcenter.org for more information about giving blood.  If you have specific questions about your donor eligibility, call 1-800-688-0900 before donating.

There is no substitute for human blood.  Blood lasts only 42 days.  Supplies are especially low after the recent winter storms prevented some blood collections.  Your donation now is critically important!!

These girls are among many Girl Scouts who are earning an award while doing a service for their community. The first award, known as the Bronze Award, acknowledges that a Junior girl scout, a fourth or fifth grade girl, has gained the organizing and leadership skills necessary to plan and participate in an event that benefits her community.  Other local Bronze award projects include a supply drive for the SPCA of Westchester (there is a collection box at the Chappaqua Library); an environmental project on the rain forest, a t-shirt drive for Haiti; and a service project for disadvantaged children.  Please support these efforts if you can!
