This is a national initiative aimed at teens, librarians, educators, parents, and other concerned adults to encourage teens to take advantage of libraries’ non-print resources. The library is a great place, both physically and virtually exploration of the many types of technology available including DVDs, music, gaming, online databases, social networking, audiobooks and more. Be sure to check out our new Playstation 2 game collection.
YIKES! THE HISTORY OF MOVIE STUNTS
Thurs. Mar 11 in the Library Theater 7:30pm Gr. 7-12. Adults welcome.
Clive Young is back to educate, entice & entertain us with the historical & techonological “hows and whys” of movie stunts. Join us as he traces the action-packed evolution of jaw-dropping stunt work in movies. From car chases, explosions and leaping off bridges, to sword fights, motorboat jumps and hanging from helicopters, Hollywood stuntmen and women willingly risk their lives daily to bring excitement to the silver screen. Starting with seat-of-their-pants feats filmed in the early 1900s, the program follows a timeline of movie stunts throughout the ages, presenting some of the most spectacular acts ever put to celluloid while explaining the advancements in technology, training and safety that made them possible.

COLLEGE SEARCH PROGRAM
Thurs. March 18
Recommended for JUNIOR FAMILIES (Teens and Parents together) 7:00pm
Nothing is more important in the college process than finding the right schools, and this seminar is the perfect first step to ultimately finding the right college where a student will be happy and successful. Alex Weiner from Collegewise will discuss the many factors that need to be considered when evaluating colleges, like size, location and majors. He’ll recommend which factors deserve more consideration than others. And he’ll discuss how to visit colleges, a college planning ritual that sounds easy but, if left unchecked, can be almost as stressful as full contact karate. Families who attend this seminar are usually able to better identify and describe what they’re looking for in colleges, which helps in the college selection/application process.
