The Westchester Jazz Orchestra will begin their 2010-11 performance season on Saturday, September 25 with a tribute to multi-Grammy-winning saxophone giant Michael Brecker, with the legendary trumpeter Randy Brecker as a guest.  But if you can’t wait, you can catch this spectacular group in two free concerts over the summer.

Next Tuesday, July 20, a WJO sextet and vocalist Lynette Washington will perform as part of Mt. Vernon’s Summer Breeze Jazz Series. The members of the sextet are Jay Brandford on alto saxophone, Marvin Stamm on trumpet and flugelhorn, Bruce Eidem on trombone, Mike Holober on piano, Harvie S on bass and Ron Vincent on drums. (Line up subject to change). The concert will be held at the Mt. Vernon City Hall Plaza, One Roosevelt Square, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The rain location will be inside City Hall.

On Thursday, August 5, the full Westchester Jazz Orchestra will kick off a new summer series produced by JazzForumArts at Lyndhurst in Tarrytown. The beautiful historic Hudson Valley setting overlooking the Hudson River will provide the perfect backdrop to enjoy this band’s extraordinary music.
