(GIRLS U13) Chappaqua Jaguars 3 - Armonk Bobcats 0
The G13-2 Chappaqua Jaguars totally dominated the Armonk Bobcats on turf field at Byram Hills H.S. Jaguar goals were scored by Olivia Kerester, Samantha Monk and Emma Lampe. Lampe in particular played well, probably her best game this spring. The Jaguars led 3-0 at the half, and coasted to the victory. The final score hardly reflected the degree of domination on the field.
All the Jaguars gave a gritty performance. Air temperature was in the mid-90’s and the field temperature on the turf was considerably hotter. Jamie Baum and Lindsey Hill once again teamed up in the goal to earn another shutout.
(GIRLS U13) Chappaqua Liberty 1 - Pelham 2
The Liberty kept the heat on Pelham today in Pelham and dominated most of the play in the 90 degree heat. Liberty struck first with a fine shot by Lily Wolfensohn. Defense was tough with strong play by Juliana Posen. Eva Sibinga played nicely in mid-field and the offense had many opportunities to score but couldn’t find the back of the net. Audrey Seligman, Jackie Seltzer and Ally Kuhn all had close calls with goals. Pelham tied the game on a nicely placed corner-kick, and won it on a questionable goal with time running out. Overall it was a strong Liberty effort and a disappointing outcome in very hot and humid playing conditions. Great Liberty match!
(Boys U10) Mamaroneck Gladiators 2 - Chappaqua Wildcats 1
On a brutally hot, humid afternoon, the Mamaroneck Gladiators and Chappaqua Wildcats battled it out at Westorchard as the Wildcats tried to avenge their only loss of the fall season. Last September, Chappaqua lost at Mamaroneck 3-2. This afternoon, Chappaqua dominated play in the first half and played pretty evenly in the second half (clearly Mamaroneck talked at halftime and made some adjustments that worked for them), but the Wildcats were unable to capitalize on a goal until Tyler Sherman scored in the last minute of the game. Unfortunately, Mamaroneck had already scored two goals, one on a freaky play on a corner kick and the other on a very nice play involving several of their players. Kudos go to Matt Kaufman who controlled play in the defensive end and continuously cleared the ball out of his zone and sent the offense on its way up field. Jeffrey Merchant was also instrumental in keeping the dangerous Mamaroneck forwards away from the net and giving the Chappaqua midfielders and strikers the opportunity to attack and try to score. Next week, the Wildcats play their last game of the spring season as they travel to Purchase to take on the Harrison Cyclones.
(U12 Girls) Chappaqua Tigers 5 - Scarsdale Twisters 0
The Chappaqua Tigers (U12 Girls) fought through the blistering heat on Sunday to win convincingly over their Division 1 rivals, the Scarsdale Twisters. Scarsdale came out strong and put the pressure on the Tigers who started a bit slow. Both teams struggled to generate any sustained offensive, and went into the half knotted at 0-0.
The second half was all Tigers. Taking advantage of the small field and a slight helping wind, the Tigers launched a couple shots from 30+ yards out that found the back of the net. In the end the Tigers got five goals in a late game barrage that put the contest out of reach. While 5-0 was not a fair indication of how close the game was, the Tigers certainly desired the win. With two games to go the Tigers stand at 5-2-1 on the season in Division 1.
(HS-Girls) Chappaqua Storm 2 - Greenburgh Power 2
The Chappaqua Storm played Greenburgh Power this past Sunday. It was a hard fought game, with Greenburgh scoring two goals in the first half. The Storm kicked it up a notch in the second half and dominated the field. Emily Taylor scored on a penalty kick and a second goal was scored by Adrianna Huehnergarth. The Storm was in position to score again when the referee blew the whistle to end the tie game.
(BOYS High School) Chappaqua Falcons 3 - White Plains Chivas 1
Chappaqua Falcons won 3-1 over White Plains Chivas. The Falcons came out early with some intense play and a goal to control most of the game. Our overall domination really did not show in the final score as we could have really made this a lopsided game. Ben Vanderwurf had two goals and Alex Pappas added another to take a relatively easy win this week.
(U14 Girls) Chappaqua Stars 2 - Rye Dragons 1
On a very hot day, the Stars started the game brightly and dominated the first fifteen minutes. Nora Kerrich scored on a fantastic individual effort and created a second goal for Victoria Blumenfeld. Meryl Rosenberg and Carolyn Wolf controlled the midfield, while Sara Levy, Julia Suggs, Rebecca Passman, and Natanaie Erlikh worked tirelessly to keep the pressure on the Rye defense. In the second half, Rye scored on one breakaway but the Stars’ defense with Aemilia Philips, Annie Mester, Sara Bonadies and Zoe Mackey was strong enough to hold a tiring Rye offense from scoring the tying goal.
