Written comments on the proposed redevelopment of the Reader’s Digest property are due September 18, though the board may extend the comment period. See inside for the town board’s special email address for comments on the DEIS.

Several consultants’ reports were posted this week on the town website.  The town board is still waiting for the board of education’s comments on Summit Greenfield’s draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) and a report by HR&A Associates on the financial feasibility of the proposed development.  The Saccardi & Schiff study on what uses the town may wish to make of portions of the property was released this week as well as some F.P. Clark comments on traffic.  See inside for direct links to these and other documents relating to the DEIS.

1.  Alternative Municipal Uses Study by Saccardi & Schiff  According to the town’s website text, “In March 2009, the Town Board of the Town of New Castle retained Saccardi & Schiff Inc., a White Plains-based planning and development consulting firm, to prepare an alternative reuse study for the Reader’s Digest corporate site. . . . The purpose of the study was to evaluate potential public uses for this property that would be appropriate given planning, design, engineering, and economic considerations, consistent with Town objectives and the property owner’s need to reuse the site in an economically viable manner.”

2. Department of Environmental Protection Response to Chappaqua Crossing DEIS  This document is “New York City’s Department of Environmental Protection’s response to the Chappaqua Crossing Draft Environmental Impact Statement, dated June 23, 2009.”
