Marking their fourth year in Chappaqua, Tara Caverzasi and Scott Mikolay, the owners of Desires, will host a benefit for the Pace Women’s Justice Center in their store from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to save 15% on fine jewelry, enjoy delicious finger food by Lyla’s Restaurant and fine wine and Cosmopolitans courtesy of The Wine Enthusiastist. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from all sales will be donated to the Pace Women’s Justice Center.
Pace Women’s Justice Center
The Women’s Justice Center has been a favorite charity of Caverzasi for many years because of her background in social work, which included working in a shelter for women and children in New Jersey. “There are not a lot of resources for women who are escaping domestic violence,” she lamented, “and we are honored to be able to support this wonderful organization that strives to protect them and improve their legal rights. Our goal this year is to raise at least $10,000 for this great cause.”
According to its web site, “the Pace Women’s Justice Center is dedicated to eradicating domestic violence and to furthering the legal rights of women, children, and the elderly through the skillful and innovative use of the law. The Center’s goal is to give those who support domestic violence victims and survivors, the elderly, women with low income, survivors of sexual assault, and children, the education and legal tools they need to stop violence against women, seek economic justice, empower the underrepresented, and save lives. The Center also provides comprehensive legal representation to victims and survivors of domestic violence through the A.S.S.I.S.T., Bridge the Gap and the Elder Abuse Civil Legal Services Program.” For further information go to www.law.pace.edu/wjc
