The Greeley Talent Show, sponsored by the senior class government, will be held tonight in the high school auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 per student and are available for sale at the school today and at the door tonight.
Principal Andrew Selesnick sent a letter home to Greeley families this week about the talent show, outlining the procedures put in place to make this a safe and fun event for the students attending.
He noted, “I was able to congratulate our students, at the start of the holiday music assembly, on their good behavior at recent school functions. I told them that we are still considering whether or not we can hold dances later this year, but that their behavior of late has been promising. This coming Friday night presents yet another opportunity.”

Dear Greeley Families,
This Friday night, our Senior Class Government will host a talent show at Greeley, in the auditorium, at 7 pm. This talent show, which has become something of a tradition in recent years, is typically well-attended and fun for all who participate on stage or in the audience.
As part of our continuing effort to make night time social events safe for all students, we are once again writing to you in advance of the event, so that you are fully aware of the nature of the event, of how it will run, and of our expectations. Immediately prior to the winter vacation, I was able to congratulate our students, at the start of the holiday music assembly, on their good behavior at recent school functions. I told them that we are still considering whether or not we can hold dances later this year, but that their behavior of late has been promising. This coming Friday night presents yet another opportunity.
The talent show is an event in which all students are invited to participate. They have already held rehearsals, and we expect the stage will be filled with a wide variety of interesting, entertaining acts, from jugglers to rock bands, from classical pianist to comedic skits. Mr. Benack and Mr. Schraufnagel will be among the staff members performing, and break-dancer Brandon Lopez will be back by popular demand. In previous years, the auditorium has been filled close to its capacity of approximately 500 seats.
This $5.00 tickets will be sold in school, in the cafeteria, on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (one ticket per student). Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door. Students should plan to arrive early, as we will not allow entrance after 7:00, and once students leave the show, they will not be readmitted. We expect that the show will end at approximately 9:30 and we ask that parents be ready to pick up their children promptly at that time. Experience tells us that good decisions are not typically made by students when they are left for a long time wondering how they’ll get home or to which home they should go.
In addition to the Talent Show, there are three home basketball games at Greeley on Friday, all against Somers High School. The Boys’ JV team plays at 4:00, the Girls’ JV at 5:30, and the Girls’ Varsity at 7:00.
As with all school events:
• We expect that students will not consume alcohol or use illegal substances before, during or after these events and we will have a Breathalyzer on hand should we need it.
• Any student who is in possession of or under the influence of alcohol or other drugs will be suspended from school and required to attend a series of counseling meetings with our Student Assistance Counselor upon return to school.
Parents, please work with us to send a message to your children that this Friday is an opportunity for all of us to present our best selves and maintain the privilege of having social events at school.
Thank you.
Andrew Selesnick, Principal
