On May 3, come help make New Castle “Neat to the Street”

Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, parents and children, merchants and residents from all parts of New Castle will brush, broom and bag the refuse collected during New Castle’s annual cleanup day on Saturday, May 3, 2008.

Meet at Town Hall, 200 S. Greeley Avenue, or at the Country Deli, 74 Millwood Road, next to the fire house parking lot from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  We will have bags and gloves enough for everyone.  In fact, you can pick them up in advance at both locations beginning Monday, April 28.

It’s so easy to let detritus accumulate at the street edges of our properties through fall and winter. But spring is here, so either sign up to clean up (that will help us keep track of who’s doing what roadways) or, when you see us, come out and join us in making the whole town “Neat to the Street.”

Feel free to get a head start and clean up your own border with the street. That way we can deploy workers to concentrate on other public, common areas. See you out there next Saturday!

Kathie Lenihan, a resident of New Castle for 43 years, is chairperson of the town’s Beautification Advisory Board.
