On Saturday, January 12, friends and compatriots joined in bidding a fond farewell to Bruce Gilchrist, who is moving away after nearly 50 years in New Castle.

It was an impressive group of people, most of whom had become friends during the lively years when there were competitive elections in New Castle. Bruce’s deputy supervisor, Slade Cargill, and his wife Susan came up from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and we saw many others from the old days when we met around kitchen tables to prepare countless mailings and plan fund raisers and campaigns.

Former Supervisors Dick Burns, Polly Kuhn, Marion Sinek and Clinton Smith and many other officials, past and present, added to the jollity.

Thanks, Bruce, for giving us a chance to get together with old and dear friends.
