Over the last year and a half, I’ve said a great deal on the importance of organic practices, letting go of our need for perfect lawns and planting more native plants.

I think this talk will drive the message home. The League of Women Voters have teamed up with the Chappaqua Garden Club to present Patricia Wood, executive director of Grassroots Environmental Education. Her talk, entitled “Raising Healthy Families in a Toxic World: Making Changes in Our Own Backyards,” will be presented on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church on Orchard Ridge Road in Chappaqua.

Wood will to demonstrate how to have a beautiful lawn with organic turf through easy changes in lawn care practices such as mowing and irrigation techniques. Click here to see their flyer.
I hope that in New Castle, where we are usually ahead of the curve, all gardeners as well as non-gardeners will care enough to attend this talk. See you there!
