Saturday, Dec. 5, lend your voices to the Second Annual New Castle Community Sing . . .

. . . then parade to the Horace Greeley House for the tree lighting!

Last December, the Chappaqua Orchestra “orchestrated” a tremendously successful community event. The standing-room-only crowd in the Bell School Auditorium at the First New Castle Community Sing raised their blended voices in sweet holiday songs to the accompaniment of the Chappaqua Orchestra. What a treat, to be accompanied by a real orchestra!

This generous gift to the community from the Chappaqua Orchestra, under the direction of Michael Shapiro, is becoming a New Castle tradition. All ages and voices are welcome to join the orchestra, choristers, friends and neighbors to raise the roof with the sound of music at the Second Annual New Castle Community Sing tomorrow, Saturday, December 5 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the Bell School Auditorium. This free concert will conclude with a short parade to the old Greeley House for the New Castle Historical Society’s Holiday Tree Lighting.

The combination “variety show” and “sing-a-long” at the Bell auditorium will feature the talents of local performers including Greeley senior Julia Deutsch singing “Walking in the Air” from The Snowman; the Chappaqua Singers, directed by Marie Roche, singing “The Secret of Christmas;” Dan Montez, a tenor with the Taconic Opera singing “Oh, Holy Night;” and the Greeley Madrigal Singers concluding the concert with the “Hallelujah Chorus” from The Messiah

Lyrics will be provided for all of the sing-a-long songs so that everyone can join in the fun, or simply listen to the sound of a full orchestra celebrating a season of holiday cheer. The sing-a-long program includes Frosty the Snowman; Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer; We Wish You a Merry Christmas; Maoz Tsur (Rock of Ages); My Dreidel; S’Vivon (Spin, Dreidel); Jingle Bells; Winter Wonderland; O, Come, All Ye Faithful; Hark! The Herald Angels Sing; Angels We Have Heard on High; Silent Night; and Joy to the World.

TD Bank is the official sponsor of the New Castle Community Sing. Why not make a day of it, in New Castle, and do your holiday shopping locally before heading up to Bell for the concert?
