Letter to Robert O. Snyder, Superintendent of New Castle Parks and Recreation
April 30, 2010
by David B. Metz
Dear Bob:
I have come to the Zimmerman – Recreation Department issue just recently, but my research discovers the following:
* Zimmerman’s deep knowledge and administrative experience with New Castle football is an asset that should not be trifled with.
* Furthermore, his emotional dedication to this cause and the numerous family coaches he brings to the program is an asset of overwhelming value.
* The personal connection of the Zimmerman system – family coaches of young football enthusiasts – cannot be equaled by bureaucratic town management or USA Football.
* The politics of this issue is unfortunate.
Let the kids play in the fine system that exists. It is not broken and does not need fixing.
Sincerely,
David B. Metz

Let’s all be adult about this. The rec commission should take account of what we want our town to be: a place with personal, human efforts at making a great life and lessons for our kids. The football program AS IT IS is great. We don’t need it gussied up or formalized just for the heck of it. I agree: “KEEP PEtE”!
As residents, we need a permission/permit to build a house/remodel, we need a permission/permit to remove a tree,we need a permission/permit to hang a sign in downtown Chappaqua, the Town Board holds public hearings regarding matters prior to making decisions that effect the residents. So I ask,why does the Recreation Department have the ability to make unilateral decisions without asking permission?
