January 14 PTA meeting: Consultant of convenience to confound the issue?
Dear Editor:

I recently became aware of the proposed change to a modified block schedule at Greeley and look forward to attending the meeting Monday night to learn more about implementation plans.

However, I was surprised to see that the discussion will be lead by Dr. Ehrenworth.  While she apparently has credentials in the area of teaching reading and writing ( http://digitalcommons.libraries.columbia.edu/dissertations/AAI3192246/ ), I can find no evidence in scholarly journals that Dr. Ehrenworth has studied the issue of curriculum development under modified block scheduling.

When considering implementation of a change as controversial as modified block scheduling, I wonder why the school district administration appears to have engaged a consultant of convenience rather than someone who has demonstrated expertise in the topic, and to have chosen to conflate the issue of block scheduling with college admissions.
