Consultant To Appear At Fire District Meeting
The scheduled appearance of Fire Consultant John Nickerson at the regular monthly meeting of the Millwood Board of Fire
Commissioners next Monday, April 28th has produced significant interest among interested fire district residents. Nickerson, who will be available to answer questions, has welcomed comments and suggestions from concerned citizens to augment his interviews with various knowledgeable local individuals including a number of Town and fire officials. As the Consultant completes the information gathering phase for the needs assessment study, the public is anxiously awaiting the completed report which is expected to provide important current and long term guidance to the fire district. The meeting is set for 7:30 pm at Fire Station #2 on Route 134.
On a separate but related matter, representatives of the League of Women Voters will also be in attendance at the meeting as the BOFC responds to the LWV’s recent letter concerning alleged omissions in the final Environmental Review Scope Document submitted in connection with the replacement of Firehouse #1.
It seems likely that a good deal of discussion will be generated by the two above matters.
Millwood Fire Company Annual Fund Drive
Watch your mail for a current solicitation from the Millwood Fire Company, the outstanding group of men and women volunteers who regularly place themselves at risk to protect you and me and our property. Aside from acknowledging these brave folks purely for their valor, there is no doubt that our volunteers save every taxpayer a substantial number of dollars
compared to the cost of a paid fire department.
Please give as generously as you are able in appreciation of this fine organization and its members.
Millwood Task Force May Meeting - Thursday, May 1
The MTF, which regularly meets on the first Thursday of each month, will meet next Thursday, May 1 at 8:00 pm at Fire Station #2 on Route 134. After Monday evening’s BOFC meeting (referred to above) there are likely to be a number of interesting matters for discussion along with updates on the usual ongoing agenda items. As always, the public is invited to attend.
