They walked the walk, now they’ll talk the talk. You’re invited to take part in the planning board’s work session discussion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7. First item on the agenda is all about Millwood.
This will be the first of what is expected to be several joint work sessions.
The planning board and task force will evaluate existing land use and zoning policies for the areas along both sides of Millwood Road and the east side of Station Road. Eventually, an area site plan will be developed. Such site plans typically identify recommended points of site access, off-street parking, building areas and internal circulation for a group of adjacent or nearby properties, and are used by the planning board to guide future development.
The Planning Board is anxious to hear from stakeholders in Millwood and the West End.
If you would like to receive written notification of future joint work sessions concerning this study, send a supply of self-addressed stamped envelopes, noting the specific topic of interest, to the Secretary, New Castle Planning Board, 200 South Greeley Ave., Chappaqua, NY 10514.
Millwood Task Force July Meeting Thursday, July 9th
Naturally, a major topic of discussion will be the joint meeting of two days before between the task force and planning board. The task force realizes that the result of this study is likely to have a major impact on the future growth and development of the hamlet. Just as the Planning Board has invited public comment, the MTF also welcomes constructive ideas and thoughts.
Other subjects to be covered include the latest developments regarding the proposed new firehouse and the proposed mosque on Pines Bridge Road. In addition, updates are expected on MTF efforts toward clean up and beautification in the hamlet and progress on various State Department of Transportation projects within our area.
The meeting will be held at 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 9th in Fire Station #2 on Route 134. NewCastleNOW.org has printed the agenda at the bottom of this page.
Millwood Fire Commissioners Hold Regular June Monthly Meeting
The Millwood Board of Fire Commissioners held its regular June monthly meeting on Monday, June 22nd. No final decision regarding selection of new architects for the proposed Fire Station #1 was announced, but a final choice is expected within the next several weeks.
Continuing its overall review of fire district operations, the BOFC has held additional special meetings, all of which were open to the public. The board is reviewing the District’s insurance coverage as well as its banking affiliations. In addition to measuring the effectiveness of the current arrangements, the review serves as an excellent educational exercise for the board members, both veteran and recent.
It was announced that the emergency repairs required for the second story floor of the old firehouse have now been completed at a final cost of approximately $55,000. This was accepted as good news since the initial estimates for the job had been as high as $75,000.
The next meeting of the BOFC is a special meeting on Wednesday, July 15th and the regular July monthly meeting on Monday, July 27th. Both will take place at 7:30 pm at Fire Station #2 on Rte 134. The public is welcome.
