CRAFT FAIR

by Roberta Lasky

The 27th Annual Chappaqua Craft Fair presents the works of 85 vendors next Saturday, November 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Robert E. Bell Middle School, 50 Senter Street.

Stop by this year’s Chappaqua Craft Fair to admire the work of local merchants, crafts people and artists, while supporting PTA-run enrichment programs at Bell Middle School.

The Chappaqua Craft Fair is the largest fundraising event held by the Bell PTA and provides the PTA with most of the funding for such important student enrichment programs as the Bell PTA Theatre Program, the Halloween Window Painting Contest, the Jacob Burns Film Center media literacy program and the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Workshops, as well as nutrition and sustainability programs.

In this time of budget cuts, the PTA’s funding of supplemental arts and enrichment programs provides young people with outlets beyond academics and sports, and offers them insight and perspective into the world beyond this hamlet.

This year’s Fair will feature over 85 vendors exhibiting their fine handmade pottery, unique handcrafted jewelry, and a myriad of other unique and original items just in time for the holiday gift purchasing.

Delicious and gourmet food items will also be available at the Fair.  So come hungry – people are sure to find something to hit their fancy and fulfill their appetite!

During the Craft Fair, the following drives by local Girl Scout troops and various school clubs will be conducted:
1. Collecting DVDs and Books for ages 3 – 12 for Putnam Hospital Center.
2. Collecting Halloween Costumes to seed next year’s costume swap (with Bell Environmental Club).
3. Collecting clothing of any kind for Neighbor’s Link.
4. Collecting Pasta for Neighbor’s Link.
5. Collecting Canned Goods for the Food Bank for Westchester.
6. Troop 2757 is collecting used or new DVD movies or TV series to send to Afghanistan. Please be mindful of the subject matter.
7. Childhood Hunger Awareness collecting Perishable foods as follows: potatoes, carrots, apples, peppers, onions, squash, beets, celery, pears, oranges

Please bring an item to help these causes!

Something special is waiting at the Chappaqua Craft Fair.  Join us for an hour-or two- browsing, eating, buying.  You’ll find many fabulous gift ideas for family and friends.
