You’ve heard them at the Chappaqua Farmer’s Market, or maybe at one of the six local clubs where they play regularly. But if you haven’t, don’t miss them tomorrow, Saturday, July 9, when Chappaqua’s own Chris Fox and his band Mojo Monde open the 7th Annual Pleasantville Music Festival at 12:15 p.m. on the Pleasantville Village Stage.

Gates open at noon for the start of this family-friendly festival, which is sponsored by the Village of Pleasantville, WXPK 107.1 the PEAK and the Westchester Medical Center. For the next eight and a half hours, festival-goers will be treated to performances by 20 different world-class, nationally recognized artists on three separate stages.

The Pleasantville Music Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the summer in Westchester, attracting thousands of attendees. More than 200 artists auditioned for the coveted twenty performing slots for this year’s festival.

More about Chris Fox and Mojo Monde

Fox’s band-mates in Mojo Monde include fellow Chappaqua resident, Jon Cobert, a keyboardist who most famously performed and recorded with John Lennon in the mid 70’s.  “He’s a musical genius,” commented Fox. On bass is Tony Tino, who has supported Gavin DeGraw, Southside Johnny and Clay Aiken, among others.  On drums is Denny McDermott, who has recorded and performed with Donald Fagen of Steely Dan and David Johansen.

Fox points to folk, blues, 60’s and 70’s rock, especially the Beatles, and more current, alternative bands as the major influences on his music writing and performing. The band’s sound
is a unique fusion of these diverse styles.

“We’re very excited to be performing at the Pleasantville Music Festival,” said Fox. “I’ve attended it every year as a spectator, and it’s a real thrill to now be one of the performing artists.”
Fox and Mojo Monde will follow up their festival appearance with a return engagement at the July 16 Chappaqua Farmer’s Market, a July 23 gig at Lucy’s Lounge in Pleasantville and a July 29 concert in Portchester’s Lyons Park.
