A Public Forum on Healthcare Reform at First Congregational Church

September 9, 2011
Haven’t had time to read the 2,000 pages of the new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act? It will change the way many Americans receive healthcare, as well as how some physicians and hospitals provide it. What will the new law mean for you and your family? Does it apply to those already covered by health insurance from their employers? What will change for seniors on Medicare? What do small business owners and the self-employed need to know? How will the new health insurance exchanges work?
To help provide answers for community residents, the New Castle Democratic Committee is sponsoring a public forum on healthcare reform at the First Congregational Church in Chappaqua, at the corner of Orchard Ridge Road and Route 117 (Bedford Road) on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m.. The panel will be moderated by New Castle resident Daniel Blum, Vice-President of Phelps Memorial Hospital, for many years a paramedic in NYC and a current member of the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
New York State Assembly member George S. Latimer and a distinguished panel of Westchester-area experts will present a comprehensive overview of the changing healthcare environment and take questions from the audience. Scheduled to participate are Joel Seligman, President and CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital, Mark Hannay, Director of the Health Care for All Campaign of Metro New York, and Richard Schoetz, President of New York Health Start Insurance. The goal of the evening is to arm residents with the accurate, actionable information they’ll need to understand this important new law and make the most of it for themselves and their loved ones.
Admission is free, refreshments will be served, and everyone is welcome.
