At the Chappaqua Library on Friday, December 9, between 3:15 and 5:15 p.m. former President Bill Clinton will sign copies of his book, Back to Work: Why We Need Smart Government for a Strong Economy. Of the proceeds, 10% will go to the Chappaqua Library. Copies of the book must be purchased at the library for $26 by cash, check or credit card. You may buy any number of books, but you may have only one book signed. See other restrictions in “Read more…”
Mr. Clinton is able to sign only the first 500 copies presented to him at the signing.
No photograph-taking is allowed. Clinton will not “personalize” the book, but simply sign it. The Village Bookstore in Pleasantville has supplied the library with 1200 copies of the book, available for purchase starting at 9:00 a.m. the morning of the signing. When you purchase a book, library staff will bracelet you so that you may return later for the signing, on a first come / first served basis. When you return for the signing, you must leave coats, purses, briefcases, bags, cameras, cell phones and tablets in a special staging area in the library where you may check these items—or leave them in your car.
DO THE PROCEEDS FROM THE BOOK GO TO THE LIBRARY?
THAT WOULD BE THE CORRECT THING TO DO FOR THE COMMUNITY
SINCE HE’S GETTING FREE PUBLICITY
I returned from the book signing a few hours ago. President Clinton stood in the library gallery throughout the signing and took a few moments to speak with each customer. Once he started signing books, the line moved steadily forward. He was gracious as always and it was nice to see him speaking intently with two faculty members from Greeley who seemed to have his ear. Not sure about the proceeds being donated to the library as this was not mentioned or advertised at any point. It’s nice to see him out and about in his own backyard.
