Next week, Conti construction crews will continue to install curbing to define the slip lane that leads from the bridge to Hunts Place and will finish laying gas and electric lines underground along the north side of the bridge leading to Hunts Place.
Traffic will intermittently be directed to alternate, using one lane of the bridge. Now that the south staircase cement is poured, next week workers will pour columns for the north staircase foundation, and the landing for the south staircase. Stonework is continuing on the parapets (the side walls of the bridge), and crews will work on fashioning the sidewalk along the south side of the bridge that leads to Citibank.

....and as to the big question…when do they anticipate opening up the north side of the bridge to traffic?
Editor’s Note: Could be as early as September. Whole bridge project done by November.
Dear Editor:
Whilst it is interesting to read the anticipated steps to be taken with respect to the bridge construction, how about some real news: What is the original completion date for the bridge? Has the completion date changed? Was the anticipated work reported in the last update completed on time? Etc.
Thank you.
Editor’s Note: NY State DOT said in July 2008 that the project would take 24 months. The start was delayed by a lawsuit. Winter closed in before a big deck pour was able to be made. The State ran out of money and as a result the construction company halted work.
The project is now about a year over its original estimated date of completion.
Can you show a drawing of how the bridge will look when completed? There is discussion as to how many lanes there will be. Is the old stone portion over the Saw Mill Parkway going to be widened?
When will the details about the contaminated soil found in the parking lot behind the stores be released?
When will the bridge be finished? When will Conti fully vacate the commuter parking lot?
This update lacks the single most important fact about the bridge: the estimated completion date. It’s fine as far as it goes, but I am certain your readers would like to know when this mess will all go away and life will return to normal. I suggest you include a current estimate with every subsequent update.
the hundred year bridge work continues to keep local residents awake all night long. funny that you don’t hear any noise during the day. guess they don’t want to disturb what merchants are left in town. start a lawn mower at 8 A.M on a saturday and see how long it takes the police to come knocking at your door. has to be union workers on the bridge project if it’s taking this long!
So, is there some timeline which has tracked the progress to date, when the different tasks will be done by and shows variance about when things are delayed?
There has been little if any visibility or clarity on this project.
If you go here, https://www.nysdot.gov/projects you c,an supposedly check the status of all projects by the NYS DOT. If you select Town -> NEW CASTLE TOWN, the bridge project does not appear.
The website says the status is updated monthly.
Does anyone know why this is?
