Chappaqua Turf Campaign

turf

A shortage of dependable field space exists in New Castle.  As one of the largest school districts in Westchester, Chappaqua’s athletic fields are noticeably inferior to those of surrounding communities resulting in a greater number of practices and games cancelled due to our field conditions.  To address this situation, a group of committed Chappaqua parents, with the full support of the Chappaqua School Board, formed the Chappaqua Turf Campaign Committee with the sole purpose of raising private funds to build and install a state-of-the art turf field with lights.  The Committee is seeking to complete its fundraising efforts by this Fall so that the field will be installed and ready for the 2013 spring athletic season.  Volunteers are welcome!  For more information, to get involved, or to contribute towards this community-wide effort, please visit our website: www.chappaquaturf.org

“Dream Big”—An Evening of Old-Fashioned Summer Games

The New Castle Historical Society has planned a fun filled summer evening playing games from the past. These games have been passed from generation to generation, and date back as far as colonial times. Children will play outdoor games such as Battledore, Graces, Stoolball, and indoor parlor games including Whirligig, Dominoes and “What Do You Do With It.”  Join us at the Chappaqua Library located at 195 South Greeley Avenue on Wednesday, July 18 from 7:00 to 8:00pm.  Please call the library at 238-4779 x3 to reserve your spot.

For children six years +.  The program is sponsored by the New Castle Historical Society and Chappaqua Library.
