This weekend, November 13-14, Chappaqua soccer players and their friends and families will be teaming up with the Food Bank for Westchester for their third annual cereal drive to help feed hungry families right here in our own community.
All families with children in the Chappaqua Youth Soccer League (CYSC) and AYSO are being asked to bring a box or two of cereal to their games or practices this weekend, Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13. Each team has a parent volunteer who will collect the cereal and deliver it directly to the Food Bank on Sunday, November 13 between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Cereal donations will also be gratefully accepted at the Food Bank during their regular warehouse hours, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. or 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. All members of the community are invited to support this important drive by bringing cereal donations to the Food Bank at any of the listed times.
The Food Bank is located at 358 Saw Mill River Road in Millwood in the Millwood Business Park.
The Food Bank for Westchester is the sole supply and support center for approximately 200 frontline hunger relief member agencies throughout the entire county. The Food Bank distributes approximately five million pounds of food annually to those in need right here in our community. More than 200,000 Westchester County residents are hungry or at risk of hunger. Half of them are seniors; a third of them are children. Additional information regarding their valuable work is available at www.foodbankforwestchester.org.

Special thanks to Jonathan David of CYSC and Jonathan Taub of AYSO for their help in once again making this drive a reality. Last year, we collected over 3,000 pounds of cereal, which was all very quickly distributed to needy families, and we hope to equal or top that amount this year!
