Following the Chappaqua School Foundation’s second successful Moms’ Night Out in October, community Dads headed Monday evening, November 7, to the Horace Greeley High School gym for the first annual CSF Dads’ Night Out. Fifty-five Dads (and some sons) played three on three basketball and enjoyed dinner in a fun event that raised almost $1,600 for CSF.
The evening culminated in a championship match-up, with the threesome of Brian Kinstlinger, Robert Rubin and David Schulman eking out a victory in a hard-fought game against Stu Berg, Peter Burack and Michael Katz. Each of the six finalist competitors received a gift certificate to Family Britches or Le Jardin du Roi.
“Our goal was to continue to build awareness of CSF’s support for our schools,” commented CSF Board member David Gefsky, the organizer of the event. “I am really pleased about the turnout and enthusiasm for both the event and CSF’s mission. Everyone had a terrific time.”
One participant, parent and Greeley math teacher George Benack, noted, “Thanks for a superb job … I had a great time…. The CSF does great work and it has made a direct impact on the kids in my classroom via its generous donation of a SMART board – I could not do my job as well without one.”
Assisting in the event were Greeley students Jake Ault, Cole Benack, Greg Handler and Matt Xie. In addition, Greeley freshman Sophie Rader created original artwork that was used in communication about the event as well as on T-shirts issued to tournament competitors.
