When the April 18 filing deadline came and went for applications to run for the one Chappaqua Library Board of Trustee seat up for election every year, only one candidate had filed a petition to run, which she soon withdrew.

Left with no candidate for the position, the deadline for applications was extended until yesterday, May 5, at 5:00 p.m. By that time, five new candidates had come forward to run for election on May 17.

The five candidates are, alphabetically: Gerry Golub, Seth Lesser, Thomas Payne, Ellen Smithberg and Vincent Travagliato.

Come meet the candidates next Thursday, May 12, at the League of Women Voters Candidates’ Night at the Chappaqua Library starting at 7:30 p.m. All candidates will be given an opportunity to make an opening statement, after which they will respond to questions from the audience, then conclude with a closing statement.
