NEW Letter to the Editor: What’s the town board’s position on Zimmerman’s dismissal?

Dear Editor:

As a town resident for almost 25 years, as well as a parent who in the next few years will be entering our son into the town sports programs, I was deeply concerned to read that a volunteer with Mr. Zimmerman’s knowledge and commitment is being cast aside in favor of what no doubt will become an increasing and unnecessary cost to the entire town by a continually bloating bureaucracy looking to perpetuate and expand its existence. Mr. Zimmerman should be reinstated and the program maintained along its long and successful history.

Where is the town board on this matter? Are they in favor of pushing out committed volunteers in favor of maintaining unnecessary and ultimately expanding payrolls?  We should be encouraging greater volunteerism to manage the sports programs as has been so successfully done in the past. Such a proven approach will only serve to help reduce the town payroll while efficiently assuring a safe, fun yet competitive program for all our kids.

Sincerely,

Marty Moran
