Letter to the Editor: Why not a parent-run Chappaqua Youth Football Association?

Dear Editor,

Prior to moving to California in 2005, I served as chair and a member of the Rec Commission for ten years while a resident of New Castle.  Based on what I have read about this issue in NewCastleNOW and my experience in town, the proposal to make rec football a parent-run organization has validity. The other parent volunteer-run major sports programs interface well with the department and commission, and there is no reason to believe a Chappaqua Youth Football Association would not as well.  That’s not to say there won’t be issues that arise, but with an open dialogue CYFA could be a viable program. I urge both entities to move forward with their work sessions with the goal to give the kids the best possible experience. Let’s not forget who this program is for!

Best regards,
Sandy Cherman
