Monday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. at New Castle’s Town Hall: Community Forum on increasing town board by two members, and adopting a ward system of representation

Thursday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chappaqua Library: Candidates’ Night

1) Community Forum on the Proposed Ward System Referendum. Monday, October 17th at 7:30 pm at New Castle Town Hall.  [See “Non-partisan group proposes expansion of town board from 4 at-large members to 6,” NCNOW.org, July 1, 2011.]

Find out details about the proposal to increase the size of the Town Board from 4 to 6 members (plus the Supervisor), and to elect the Town Board from separate wards. Currently, all Town Board members are elected in an at-large system in which the Town Board is elected by all of the town’s voters. 

2) Candidates Night for all candidates running in local elections including Town Supervisor, Town Board and Town Justices - Thursday, October 27th at 7:30 pm at Chappaqua Library Theater.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 8, 2011.

I heard that this forum is only open to LWV members.  Is this true?

Editor’s Note: Not true. The League has announced a public forum for Monday, October 17, at 7:30 pm at town hall, as reported above.
