A softball all-nighter in memory of Dawn Re, who was a tireless fun-raiser for fund-raising against cancer will take place under the lights at the rec field on Saturday, September 3, starting at 7:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, September 4. Called “Dusk to Dawn,” the event offers a night of co-ed softball, with wood bats and 16-inch Chicago-style softballs. Play an existing team or put together a team for the night. Need help forming a team? Email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and the organizers will find one for you.
The cost is $650 for a team to participate – and there’s space for only 15 teams. Each game will have a strict one-hour time limit, and slots will be randomly assigned. Players must be 17 years of age or older. Dawn’s Team—including John Re, Michael Wolfensohn and both men’s sons—will remain on the field through the night, playing each of the 15 teams in succession. The Quaker Hill Tavern will remain open till 1:00 a.m., with a limited menu, and give 10% off the bill to players.
Over the next weeks, Team Dawn will invite people to pledge a dollar amount (they favor the $1 per inning pledge, and estimate that they will play about 100 innings).
They need volunteers help out with the logistics as well as volunteer umpires. Sponsorship opportunities are available as well.
To register your team, send a check for $650, made payable to “Dawn’s Ray of Hope,” along with your team roster to:
