Bring your lawn chairs, bring your picnics, bring your children and grandchildren, and hunker down for a good time this summer on the Rec Field as you enjoy the summer sounds wafting from the new gazebo. Did I write “wafting”?  Well, this Wednesday, July 13, is “Elvis, a Night with the King.”  So how about “pulsing”?  Sponsored each Wednesday in July by the Town of New Castle Recreation and Parks Department and Allstate Insurance-Stephen Greenberg, last week’s concert of Beethoven’s Fifth drew a crowd of 300.

All concerts are free on Wednesday nights starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Recreation Field Gazebo, 200 S. Greeley Avenue, Chappaqua. Rain hotline: 914-238-2540. In case of rain, concerts will be held in the auditorium at Horace Greeley High School.

Wednesday, July 13: “Elvis, a night with the King,” featuring Tony Ligouri, Jr.
Wednesday, July 20: Parrotbeach, “Island Flavor: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett”
Wednesday, July 27: New York Minute, “NYC’s best band covering Motown-Pop-R&B”

Below flyer, see photos of last Wednesday’s concert audience.

FREE concerts??? Are you kidding? The taxpayers paid a few hundred thousand dollars for this Gazebo, for four concerts this summer. The politicians and voters in this town need to wake up.

Editor’s Note:  Tab was $155.

Gee, $155,313, or so they say. I suspect there are additional “soft” costs. (I believe that the Town Board planned initially to spend something on the order of $400,000 plus on the gazebo project.) Given the economic stress that many taxpayers are experiencing, our Town Board should be hunkering down on all unnecessary costs.
