“THE DROWSY CHAPERONE” opens as an agoraphobic musical-theater fan settles down to play his favorite cast album on his turntable. Suddenly, the musical bursts to life in his living room, spilling out the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet struggling with a host of 1920s archetypes to find, and keep, her true love.

With book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, the show debuted in 1998 at the Toronto Fringe Festival, and opened on Broadway on May 1, 2006, going on to win Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score, and to pack houses around the world.

If you’ve ever sat in a dark theatre and thought, “Dear Lord in Heaven, please let it be good,” well, come on down – this show is the cat’s pajamas, it’s the bee’s knees, it’s the elephant’s eyebrows, and that’s on the level!

Join the talented hoofers and chorines of the Horace Greeley High School Theatre and Music Departments, as they sing and dance their way into your heart in the year’s opening production, “THE DROWSY CHAPERONE.” This award-winning “musical within a comedy” spoofs Jazz Age musicals and the people who love them.

Come for the Freshman Pasta Dinner and Silent Auction on Friday, November 18, starting at 6:00 p.m. until showtime at 8:00 p.m., or for the closing performance on Saturday, November 19 at 8:00 p.m., and bring your family and friends to enjoy this rollicking contemporary musical.
