The New Castle Titans traveled up to Cooperstown, New York, last week to compete in a national baseball tournament for 12-year-olds. Their opponents consisted of teams from Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, California, Louisiana, Missouri and Pennsylvania.
The Titans played seven games over a four-day period. They won two games in all and lost three games by two runs or less. Considering the strong competition from all over the country, the results were considered a huge success for a small town team.
The Titans were coached by Alan Greenberg, John Gonzalez, Jay McGetrick, Brian Jabloner and Peter Gadaleta.
The players were Kyle Burton, Keith Corso, Jack Cohen, Matt Frei, Mark Gadaleta, Jake Greenberg, Ryan Gonzalez, Matt Jabloner, James McGetrick, Brandon Neeck, Daniel Mortati and Jacob Small.
The Titans would also like to give a special thank you to all the local merchants that contributed to their fundraising for the trip.
Merchants contributing to the fundraiser were Prescriptions for Fitness, Le Jardin du Roi. Petticoat Lane, Squires, Tazza, EZ Sports, Dodds Liquor, Quaker Hill Tavern, Auntie Penny, Lange’s Little Store, Mobil Gas Station, Cosmetic Boutique, Gail Patrick’s Café and Pizza Station.
Peter Gadaleta is one of the proud coaches of the Titans.
