Editor’s Note: At the Rotary’s Annual Charter Night Celebration on January 29, the Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund accepted a check for $8,000, the result of a special auction held at the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1960 last October and matched by Rotarians.  See “HGHS Class of 1960 saunters down Memory Lane, helps put others on the road to college.” A thank you note from HGSF follows.

To Peter Davidson, the HGHS Class of 1960 and all the members of the Rotary Club of Chappaqua,

The Board of the Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund is deeply grateful for the extremely generous contributions by the HGHS Class of 1960 and the matching gift from the Rotary Club of Chappaqua.  Your hard work and generosity truly embody the Rotary Club motto of “service beyond self.”  However, our expressions of gratitude could never match those of the students whose grants are funded by gifts such as these, so we pass along the following words of thanks from students:

“Your grant has made a difference in my life. My family is deeply grateful and I am determined to make our community proud.”

“Thank you for the generous grant. . . . I really feel the Horace Greeley community came through for me and my family.”

“Please know that I will someday achieve my dreams. I will always look back and be grateful to the Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund forever.”

With many thanks,

Elaine Krim
President
Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund (HGSF)

The HGSF fundraiser takes place on Thursday, March 10, at the Kittle House from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Elaine is a GREAT leader for the HGSF Board.  Come to our fundraiser at the Kittle House on March 10th.  Register at www.hgsf.org.  We will be honoring Steve Houser.  It will be a terrific event, including a silent auction and lots of other fun surprises.

As the school board representative to the HGSF, I cannot thank Elaine and the entire HGSF board enough for the generous and tireless effort put in to supporting those in this community who are truly in need of help in pursuing higher education.  I also thank the HGHS class of 1960 for their generous donation.
