Hey, who’s got a metal detector and wants to earn a quick $250? Or maybe you’re the “go to” person when anything is lost? A certain Chappaqua baseball dad could really use your help.
Around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, a dedicated baseball dad, let’s call him Gregg X, was hitting fungos to his son, a 15-year old New Castle travel baseball player, on the Greeley varsity baseball field (the one nearest the field hockey field) before his son’s 6:00 p.m. game. He was standing on the third-base side of the pitcher’s mound.
To make the batting more comfortable, he had removed his gold wedding ring and placed it on top of his wallet on the grass nearby. When it was time to leave for the away game, he grabbed his wallet and left the field. He noticed only later that he didn’t have the ring. He believes he probably lost it at the moment he picked up the wallet. He went back to the field that evening at 8:00 p.m. after his son’s game to search for the ring, but to no avail. There’s a slight possibility, he suggested, “that it’s in the left field grass, since I walked there from the infield after I picked up my wallet.”
The ring is made of two bands of gold with a band of white gold between them. He’s offering a $250 reward to anyone who finds it. If you find it, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with your name and a phone number where you can be reached. This dad thanks in advance everyone who turns out for the search.
