Our scrimmage yesterday went real well. We opened up against Fox Lane, which was pretty exciting after the close game we had last year. We then played Suffern and Yonkers. All three teams provided a challenge, but I was very impressed with how our team played, especially our defense.
On offense, we were only running a fraction of our plays so other teams could not scout our scrimmage and prepare for us later in the season. Seniors Nick Weber (co-captain), Nick Yager, Alex Gu and Christian Moore played outstandingly at offensive line. Aaron Warner, Gustavo Larramendi (co-captain), Jake Perlmutter and Brian Donovan really stood out as well. Sophomore Teddy Graves also proved he could compete on the varsity level. And no surprise, junior Justin Ciero (co-captain) played superbly as well. It still amazes me how much athleticism he possesses.
Our team is in the midst of something special and I’m confident Justin will have another outstanding year. Overall, I was impressed, but some things still need to be worked on at practice over the next few days to prepare for our first game at Brewster on Sept. 11 at 1:30 p.m. We have another scrimmage at home this Saturday, September 4, at 9:00 a.m.
