The varsity volleyball team has already racked up a 5-1 record so far this fall against non-league opponents. It faces Port Chester today at 4:30 p.m. in the main gym in its first league game of the season. “I predict we will do well, and increase our record to 6-1,” said coach Gina Streany, who teaches physical education at Roaring Brook as well as coaching at Greeley.

This is her first year as varsity coach, her second year with the Greeley volleyball program and her sixth year of coaching generally. She played varsity volleyball at Pace University. She selected three seniors to be captains this year, Sarah Hansen, Elizabeth Quon and Hallie Zeitz. Streany is helped with drills, statistics and scorekeeping by two player/managers Angela Yim and Anastasia Hillel.

Their only loss so far was against Byram Hills. “They put us to the test, and we did rise to the occasion. We played well,” Streany stated. Although they were beaten 0-3, the third game was close at 20-25. “They are a very different caliber club, one of the elite clubs,” the coach commented.
