Come this Saturday to the Christmas Fair at the Church of St. John & St. Mary’s to find the finest handmade Christmas items in town!
The fair, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Parish Center at 30 Poillon Road, has been for over 30 years one of the major fundraising efforts of the church’s dynamic Women’s Association. They began with trees, wreaths and baked goods, but each year new creative talent adds new touches. This year’s co-chairs are Janet Goldsmith, Dori Rodrick, Diane Conway and Judy Houlihan, with creative talent in abundance.
This event is unique because there are no vendors, no admission fee and the majority of offerings are handmade, one-of-a-kind-items reflecting the Christmas theme.
Specifically, the fair features handmade gift items, decorated wreaths and garlands, mailbox swags, live wreaths, swags and plants, a well-stocked gourmet area, collectable Santas, exquisite handcrafted angels, ornaments, floral arrangements and over a dozen amazing themed baskets that will be raffled.
Of special note is the Children’s Corner, a craft center where children will be entertained while their parents shop. There will be a photo op with Santa, special “just for kids” raffle baskets, a guessing jar, and more fun activities.
When your energy falters, there is a café serving fresh soup and bread, wraps and other tasty lunch choices. Plan to arrive early to be first in line when the doors swing open at 10:00 a.m.!
