Sheldon Silver is having serious agida these days. Why?

Because he knows that former New York State Trooper Bob Castelli is running for State Assembly in the special election on Tuesday, February 9th, and reforming Albany is one of the most pressing issues on people’s minds these days.

Before he graduated from Harvard and became an educator, Bob was putting drunk drivers, drug pushers, hardened criminals, and corrupt judges and politicians like Joe Bruno behind bars. Bob talks the talk and walks the walk. He is the only candidate who has articulated a no-nonsense plan for strict new ethics laws, term limits, and campaign finance reform that will restore openness and transparency to our state government.

We know that by sending him to Albany, we can trust him to clean up what experts have rightfully called the nation’s most corrupt and dysfunctional legislature. Bob will stand up for us against Sheldon Silver and the “three men in a Room” style of government imposed by Albany’s ruling class. That is why the New York Times called him “the kind of outsider Albany needs.” [Editor’s Note: The New York Times endorsed Mr. Castelli with these words when he ran against Adam Bradley, in 2004, see “Vote for Change,” NYT, October 24, 2004.]

We whole-heartedly agree with that fact, and we are proud to support Bob Castelli in the special election for state assembly Tuesday 2/09/10.
