Dear Editor,
I wanted to provide an update on the serious concerns I raised last week about the delay by the Federal Communications Commission in the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps’ attempts to upgrade our antiquated communications system. See “Letter to the Editor: Medical emergencies in New Castle: Problems with the system,” NewCastleNOW.org, Nov. 13, 2009.
Congresswoman Nita Lowey and her staff have taken up our cause aggressively with the Federal Communications Commission. While the FCC still has not yet managed to provide us with the new radio frequency we need, I appreciate the strong support from Congresswoman Lowey and her staff and believe we’re on our way to getting the problem fixed. The FCC has informed Congresswoman Lowey’s office that a radio frequency has been found that will meet the needs of the CVAC and I am confident her staff will continue to work with the FCC until CVAC receives final approval.
CVAC members are committed to providing excellent emergency service to our community. We will continue to work around the failures in the current system while waiting for the new frequency for the two-way radio/pagers that will make CVAC’s 24/7 service to our neighbors more efficient.
Sincerely,
Warren E. Hart
