Tomorrow, come meet two Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester County Master Gardeners, Claudia Venet and Kim Lindner, both Chappaqua residents, at a table in the indoor Chappaqua Farmer’s Market this coming Saturday, April 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s next to Bell.
Claudia is a veteran Master Gardener who has experience in many areas of gardening, particularly in growing seeds and working in the Children’s Garden at Ladson’s Park and Arboretum in Somers and Kim was a school garden mentor through CCE’s garden mentoring program at the Bell School in Chappaqua, which her children attend. Kim also gardens in CCE’s demonstration garden at Hilltop Hanover in Yorktown.
This is a great time of year to think about waking up the garden for spring and both Master Gardeners will have soil ph test kits available for $15 and the 2011 Master Gardener calendar, which has great planting tips month by month. Checks and cash only please. It is too early in the season to identify insects or plant disease from samples, but info will be on hand regarding seed starting indoors, vegetable varieties that do well in Westchester County, how to plant a tree, perennials for special uses, division of summer and fall perennials and the planting calendar for Westchester County.
So come by the Ask the Master Gardener table this Saturday and meet the Master Gardener Volunteers of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester County.
