Dear Editor:
As a lifelong resident I have had the opportunity to participate in almost of the town youth sports programs as a player. I started in my childhood years and progressed to a coach and spectator. From my vantage point there has been one item that transcends each program as it relates to its success: the commitment of the volunteer coaches and parents along with their knowledge.
As a youth player, I had the opportunity to experience Pete Zimmerman firsthand as my coach. His unique ability to get the most from each child while instilling a level of confidence in each child, all while teaching fundamentals, was priceless.
As a coach for multiple youth sports in town, I continue to view Pete as a tremendous resource as an administrator, coach and a sports business owner. He truly cares about each individual and the football program as a whole. I cannot understand how a decision of this magnitude could be made without input from residents.
I ask the town to reconsider their decision to bring in an outside organization to run our youth football program; no one from the outside can be as vested as our parents and community members.
