We started a bug collection this past Monday and we’ve already captured 324 reading bugs!
This summer, as in summer’s past, the Children’s Room of the Chappaqua Library will sponsor a summer reading program for “Reading Bugs.” There is still plenty of time to register at the library by simply providing your name and the school and grade you will attend in September.
After you register, you get a goodie bag filled with an attractive set of antennae, a pencil, a reading record, a book mark, a Ben and Jerry’s coupon for a free ice cream cone and a door handle sign that reads, “Don’t bug me – I’m reading!” If you like, we’ll take your picture to display in our Reading Bug gallery. If you’re not yet a reader, you can still be a reading bug; your reading record can list books that are read to you.
Reading bugs get to make a guess every week during the summer on the number of items in the Children’s Room guessing jar full of candy, trinkets and toys. The top three guessers win the jar and share its contents.
Come join our bug collection!
