Spotlight on Activities April 18 – April 25

Friday, April 18

Teen Movie and Pizza. Watch a screening of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and enjoy pizza for grades 5-12. This free event will be held at the Chappaqua Library from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. For additional information, call the young adult librarian, Michele Capozzella, at 238-4779 and choose option 4.

Reception. There will be a “Wine and Wolves” reception at 6:30 p.m. in the Borders Cafe with a gallery display of wolf photographs and paintings. A lecture will immediately follow entitled “The Wolves and other Animals of Yellowstone,” a video and slide presentation by a Wolf Conservation Center teacher who has just returned from a wolf-tracking expedition in Yellowstone National Park. Borders Books and Music of Mt. Kisco presents “Benefit Days” for The Wolf Conservation Center where 10% of all sales will go to The Wolf Conservation Center when coupon is used. Saturday, April 19

Cleaning House. The Shred Mobile returns to New Castle from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Castle Recycling Center, located at 210 Hunts Lane, Chappaqua. Guest appearance and book signing. Atka the wolf, the WCC’s ambassador will appear at 11:00 a.m. along with the Wolf Conservation Center’s managing director, who will give a talk. At 1:00 p.m., there will be a book-signing by adored children’s author Jean Craighead George and award-winning illustrator, Wendell Minor, who have just released a new book, “The Wolves are Back,” which celebrates the successful reintroduction of the wolf in Yellowstone National Park. 10% of all sales will go to the Wolf Conservation Center when coupon is used. Monday, April 21

Public Policy Discussion. Members of the Foreign Policy Association’s “Great Decisions 2008” program discuss China at 10 a.m. in the Chappaqua Library. The facilitators are Lee Rohde and Nick Markoff.

Government Meeting. The New Castle Town Board is meeting at 7:45 p.m. at Town Hall. Beautification Advisory Board in guest appearance before Town Board
