Board of education budget coffee. At 9:30 a.m. at Seven Bridges Middle School there will be an informal coffee with members of the board of education and administration to discuss budget issues. All are welcome.
Senior musical. The Horace Greeley High School Class of 2008 Presents “Pippin” at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $15. They may be purchased by calling Stephanie Suskin at 238-4246 or emailing .
“Menus in the Movies.” Come watch “The Real Dirt on Farmer John” at 7:00 p.m. at the Chappaqua Library. It will be followed by homemade desserts and a discussion led by Carol Durst, food author and film buff. This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Chappaqua Library

Dedication of Sunny Ridge Preserve. The dedication will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by a one-hour hike on the property. Buses will be available from town hall at 9:30 a.m. and the Millwood Fire Department at 9:45 a.m. Return transportation will be available after the dedication and after the hike. Music performance. The Westchester Jazz orchestra will perform songs by Gershwin and Paul Simon at 8:00 p.m. at the Irvington Town Hall Theater on 85 Main Street in Irvington, NY. Vocalist Kate McGarry, a rising star on the jazz vocal scene, will appear as a guest and WBGO’s Gary Walker is set to host the concert. Reserved seating is $30 for general admission, $25 for seniors and $5 for students. Passport opportunity County Clerk Tim Idoni and community outreach staff will be present from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Westchester County Earth Day Celebration at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. If you need to apply for a U.S. Passport, staff can take your photo and process your passport application. A certified copy of your birth certificate, a valid driver’s license and the fee is usually all you need. The county clerk’s office will also provide information to visitors regarding how they promote cleaner, greener and healthier initiatives.
Book Discussion. The Chappaqua Interfaith Council is sponsoring a speaker and panel discussion of “Hope Matters: The Untold Story of How Faith in America Works” led by author Jack Calhoun, the former head of the National Crime Prevention Council. He is also bringing three activists spotlighted in Hope Matters to join the discussion. The event will run from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, located at 210 Orchard Ridge Road in Chappaqua. A reception and book signing will follow.

“Courage to Speak.” The event, sponsored by Chappaqua PTA Cultural Enrichment, will feature speaker Ginger Katz, author of “Sunny’s Story” and founder of the Courage to Speak Foundation. She will talk about her child’s substance abuse, which ultimately ended in a heroin overdose. It will begin at 7:15 p.m. at Seven Bridges Middle School and is open to parents. PPS Downtown Steering Committee Meeting. The committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the assembly room of town hall. The first 20 minutes of the meeting are open to the public.

Open Book Discussion Group. The book chosen for the meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” by Mohsin Hamil. The group, led by Christine Bobkoff, an adjunct professor of English at Westchester Community College, is sponsored by the Friends of the Chappaqua Library. This program is free and no registration is required.
Chappaqua Board of Education Meeting. The discussion topic for the meeting, beginning at 8:15 p.m. at Seven Bridges Middle School, is the adoption of the 2008 - 2009 budget.
Rocky Hills Lecture. John Mickel will present “Ferns for Your Garden.” Mickel, a senior curator emeritus of the New York Botanical Garden, is an internationally recognized scientist, horticulturist, author and lecturer on ferns. A book signing will follow. The event is cosponsored by the Friends of Rocky Hills. It will take place at the Chappaqua Library at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
