Over 50 and beginning to think about your options for the future? How about some help from a tour guide? Two spots remain for this free eight-week seminar on planning for life beyond 50.  The group will meet at the Chappaqua Library on Tuesday mornings, 10:00 a.m to 12:00 noon, beginning March 8.  Pre-register now for the 18-member class—a few spaces remain—in order to take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory assessments.

The seminar, “Take Charge! Career/Life Planning after 50,” is presented by the Westchester Library System’s WEBS Career & Educational Counseling Service. “Although economic indicators are looking better,” suggested Elaine Sozzi, executive director of the WEBS program, “it doesn’t seem as though employer confidence has caught up. Workers who’ve never encountered career issues before, many in their 50s and 60s, are struggling with the fact that these are the very years that should have been the wrap-up to their careers, when they thought they’d be planning for retirement. Many people have been derailed long before they ever thought it could happen.”

The WEBS program offers each of its 18 participants the opportunity, Sozzi explained, to assess himself or herself and get a clear direction for the next stage of life; gain access to a variety of informational resources, many right at the library; explore new ways of working in a high-tech world; rediscover learning and explore volunteer and leisure options. To register, call Sozzi at 674-3612.  Chappaqua Library card holders and residents (even if they don’t have a library card) get preference.
