According to an e-alert sent out on Friday, July 10, by the town of New Castle, there will be no parking allowed on North Greeley Avenue this week, Monday through Friday, from Starbucks to the U.S. Post Office. The town has arranged to have soil borings taken this week along that section of Greeley Avenue.
The e-alert also stated that this work may require one-way passage on Greeley Avenue between Pizza Station (Woodburn Avenue) and the Post Office, with drivers alternating going north and south.
As part of the Downtown Steering Committee’s ongoing evaluation of underground infrastructure in downtown Chappaqua, engineers employed by the town have already located and mapped underground utilities – water mains, sewers, electric and gas lines. The borings this week will provide more information that the committee needs to consider plans for street and sidewalk improvements.
