Citizens Nonpartisan Candidate Committee does not endorse candidates

Susan Nobel and Karen Berkey, co-chairs of this year’s Citizens Nonpartisan Candidate Committee for the Chappaqua School Board, when asked to clarify a report in The Journal News that incumbents Janet Benton and Rob Gursha were endorsed by the Committee, stated:

“The Citizens Nonpartisan Candidate Committee does not make endorsements of candidates for the school board. The Committee’s purpose is to seek out and encourage interested citizens to run for the school board and to meet with those candidates who come before the Committee. Candidates are not required to come before the Committee in order to run for the school board. The two candidates reported out, Benton and Gursha, were the only two who came before the Committee.”
