At its Tuesday, May 27, 2008 Chappaqua Board of Education meeting, the board granted tenure to 21 faculty members at the six schools in the Chappaqua Central School District. Newly hired teachers who have not previously received tenure in a New York State school district are granted tenure after completion of a three-year probationary period. Those who were tenured previously in a New York State school district are granted tenure after only a two-year probationary period.
The board of education grants tenure based on the recommendations of the superintendent. All tenure decisions are effective as of September 1, 2008, unless otherwise noted.
